Orientation for the II PUC students was organised for three days from 06-06-2022 to 09-06-2022 in the College AV room. The students participated in the programme class wise on three different days.
The resource persons were from SAMAGRA- Holistic Wellbeing Centre, BJES, Bangalore.
Br. Rex Reuben – Counsellor, trained in counselling psychology and working with youth on mental health issues, Fr. Kiran Nazareth – Counsellor, trained in counselling psychology and working with youth on mental health issues, Br Reuell Paul SJ - He is Jesuit Scholastic who is pursuing his Post graduation in Political Science in St Joseph's College. He is very actively involved in youth ministry, conducting the sessions for all 03 days.
The first day of the orientation was for the II HEPS class, the second day for II GEBA class and the third day for II SEBA class.
On the first day, the orientation programme was formally inaugurated in the presence of the Director Rev. Fr. Roshan David Pereira SJ, the Principal Mr. Victor Antony, Dr Rekha the Assistant Director, resource persons of SAMAGRA, faculty and students.
The Director addressed the students and motivated them to study well, be regular to the classes and informed them of the change of college timings.
The resource persons engaged with the students with different activities. The students were divided into groups to conduct activities.
The topics discussed were :
1. Time management and proper use of time
2. Effective use of technology
3. Goals in life and finding passion
4. Need to dream big
5. Self-acceptance, belief and confidence
6. Taking right decisions on time
These topics were discussed with numerous examples such as stories, videos, pictures, physical activities and individual and group activities.
The same sessions were conducted for all three days.
On the last day, this programme was formally concluded in the presence of the Director Rev. Fr. Roshan David Pereira SJ, the Principal Mr. Victor Antony, Dr Rekha the Assistant Director of SAMAGRA- Holistic Wellbeing Centre, resource persons, faculty and students.
The Director thanked the entire SAMAGRA team for their resourceful and enriching sessions. All the resource persons were felicitated.
On the third day Rev Fr Brain Pereira SJ, the Rector was present for the entire session. The Rector addressed the students at the end of the session and thanked the resource persons and the students for their participation.
At the end, Mr Jagadish proposed a vote of thanks.
