Teachers’ Day was celebrated with warmth, gratitude and great enthusiasm at St. Joseph’s Pre-University Evening College on 5 September 2026. The celebration brought together teachers and students in an evening that honoured the dedication, guidance and lasting influence of educators while creating a joyful space for the college community to connect beyond the classroom. The programme began with a gracious welcome to the teachers, followed by a short prayer seeking blessings for the celebration and for the teachers who continue to inspire and guide their students. The significance of Teachers’ Day was then shared, highlighting the important role teachers play in shaping not only academic growth but also character, confidence, values and aspirations. The celebration soon moved into a lively and engaging student activity titled “Guessing the Teacher.” Childhood photographs of teachers were displayed on the screen, and students enthusiastically tried to identify their teachers from the pictures. The activity brought plenty of smiles and laughter, offering students a delightful glimpse into the younger days of the teachers they know today. A memorable segment of the programme was the teachers’ interactive session, “One Question, One Story.” Teachers were invited to pick chits from a bowl, each containing a prompt connected to their childhood dreams, experiences and memories. The responses gave students an opportunity to see a more personal and relatable side of their teachers, making the interaction both entertaining and meaningful. The evening then took an emotional turn with a collection of videos prepared by the students. Through heartfelt messages and warm wishes, students expressed their love, respect and gratitude to their teachers. The videos served as a sincere reminder that the impact of a teacher often extends far beyond lessons and examinations, remaining in the memories and lives of students. As a gesture of gratitude, the students presented gifts to the teachers. The exchange was a simple yet meaningful expression of appreciation for the patience, encouragement and commitment that teachers demonstrate throughout the academic journey of their students.
