As part of the Environmental Awareness Initiative of St. Joseph's PU Evening College (SJPUEC), students participated in an educational field visit to the Environmental Management & Policy Research Institute (EMPRI), Bengaluru on July 3, 2026. The programme was organized to promote awareness about biodiversity, wildlife conservation, climate change, and sustainable living through expert-led sessions and an immersive nature experience. • The first session was conducted by Ms. Likitha M on 'Wildlife Conflict'. She explained the increasing interactions between humans and wildlife, the causes of such conflicts, their impact on ecosystems and local communities, and the importance of scientific conservation measures. • The second session was delivered by Ms. Vinaya Chaithanya on Climate Change and Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). She highlighted the causes and consequences of climate change and emphasized how responsible lifestyle choices can significantly contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development. Following the sessions, students participated in a guided forest walk through EMPRI's reserved forest under the guidance of Vijay Sir and Darshan Sir. The walk enabled students to observe native trees, medicinal plants, flowering species, birds, insects, and other components of the forest ecosystem while learning about their ecological importance. The guides also explained the crucial role forests play in conserving biodiversity, improving air quality, and mitigating climate change. The environmental outing was led by Mr. Dhananjaya M. S., Coordinator of the Eco Club and Bangalore Climate Club, whose efforts ensured the programme was engaging, informative, and well coordinated. The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure beyond the classroom, strengthened their understanding of environmental challenges, and inspired them to adopt eco-friendly practices and become responsible stewards of nature.
